Wimbledon 2013

Monday brings the start of Wimbledon 2013, and also my work experience where I will be working in a physio near where we live. The Wimbledon draw was announced yesterday, to the dismay of Federer and Nadal they are on a collision course for the quarter finals! Check out this link for more info. However it is good news for the British number 1 Andy Murray who faces Germany's 95th in the world Ben Becker in the first round. Check out the Wimbledon 2013 draw here. I have done a painting of Andy Murray and Roger Federer at the Wimbledon 2012 final, so watch this space for an updated post!

London Eye by night

This is my latest, done using watercolours. I didn't use standard black out of the tube I mixed it up using burnt umber and ultramarine, this is because black out of the tube can look a bit too "bold" on a picture.

I couldn't think of any better titles for these two puffins having a rather "intense" moment!! But anyway this is a watercolour picture!

St Malo,France

Hello again! This time this is from inside the intra muros so I hope you like it!!

St Malo is on the Brittany coast next to the ferry port- you can get a ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo in 10 hours on Brittany Ferries, that's what we did summer 2012, which was REALLY good! No delays. We went on the overnight sailing on the way out to St Malo then the daytime sailing on the way back. Intramuros- Basically the walled city. We went there for our summer holiday this year via Brittany Ferries. The only bad point about it was that I really want to go again!

This again is a watercolour picture that I have used a variation of colours to create the overall effect.

Saffron Walden Art Show

Today we went to the Saffron Walden Art show in the town hall. There was a selection of pictures from various people in the Saffron Walden Arts Trust availible to look around. The pictures ranged from seaside boats done with a pen and wash to an acrylic tiger. However my favourite picture which I voted for as my picture of the show was a donkey with its head poking over the wall in watercolour. This has given me inspiration for a watercolour picture myself which of course I will upload to my blog very soon!! Another idea I had was from many of the canvases which where textured, possibly done with papier mache would create a good effect for seas if I was to look into Acrylics. Also the textured effect would be good for front covers of books. Seeing pictures of different medias side by side I thought that if I was to take my arts award to another direction I could combine different medias for different effects and textures. One example of this I particuarly liked was a gold based one where she had used tiles,wool  and wood. We also entered into a couple of raffles raising money for the trust, one to win a boat painting (we chose mumber 22 as our lucky number) and a raffle to win a christmas hamper with about 4 availible, (Our strip of 5 was 461-465)
