Wimbledon 2013

Monday brings the start of Wimbledon 2013, and also my work experience where I will be working in a physio near where we live. The Wimbledon draw was announced yesterday, to the dismay of Federer and Nadal they are on a collision course for the quarter finals! Check out this link for more info. However it is good news for the British number 1 Andy Murray who faces Germany's 95th in the world Ben Becker in the first round. Check out the Wimbledon 2013 draw here. I have done a painting of Andy Murray and Roger Federer at the Wimbledon 2012 final, so watch this space for an updated post!

Michele Webber - Sudbury (UK)

First of all I would like to apologise for the lack of posting.. it's what comes with being in year 10 with controlled assessments coursework and everything else! But anyway yesterday me and Dad went along to an art lesson, free courtesy of the Daily Telegraph with Michele Webber (http://www.michelewebber.com/) Apparently her website is undergoing a major upgrade and should be finished fairly soon! So anyway, we went along yesterday to the first of one of her two week specials on landscapes and seascapes. The lesson was extremely informative and a great opportunity to meet new people whilst developing your painting skills! So if you live in Suffolk then I would totally recommend you to contact Michele. Below is an example of one of Michele's paintings..

I will upload the finished painting here once I have completed it! So I hope that you will come back to watch this space!

Buckingham Palace

Sorry for the delay in posting this, Christmas just seemed to fly past!! I hope you had a fantastic Christmas!  Anyway, I completed this over the Christmas period, with one of my Christmas presents; How to paint London by Geoff Kersey. The book is probably one of the best that I have ever had as far as watercolours goes. It turns good paintings into fantastic ones, also it gives detailed  and well explained steps, even with tracings, which I didn't use for that particular painting. This picture is just watercolours, with a couple of watercolour pencils just to reinforce some of the lines. I hope you like it! Check out my Gallery for more of my pictures as the rest seem to get lost in all the posts :)

Hylands Park

Today we went to Hylands Park to a craft show. We arrived at Hylands park and went around the grounds of Hylands Park. The show was actually held in the house. We looked around the house as there was still the usual exhibitions in there. The crafts ranged from knitting to watercolour painting. We saw aa couple of stands with watercolour paintings on. Many of these paintings had a watercolour theme of winter paintings. This gave me quite alot of inspiration for christmas cards. Some of these ideas included robins and a fireplace scene. The fireplace scene included a fireplace with a cat on christmas eve with stockings hung up. That particular picture was painted by Jenny Henderson, a member of the Essex Guild of Crafts. Also in the crafts fair were also things like these really nice knitted scarfs, but they were knitted loosely on very thick needles so looked very lace like. Among the other crafts were photography, clothing and felt crafts.

Saffron Walden Art Show

Today we went to the Saffron Walden Art show in the town hall. There was a selection of pictures from various people in the Saffron Walden Arts Trust availible to look around. The pictures ranged from seaside boats done with a pen and wash to an acrylic tiger. However my favourite picture which I voted for as my picture of the show was a donkey with its head poking over the wall in watercolour. This has given me inspiration for a watercolour picture myself which of course I will upload to my blog very soon!! Another idea I had was from many of the canvases which where textured, possibly done with papier mache would create a good effect for seas if I was to look into Acrylics. Also the textured effect would be good for front covers of books. Seeing pictures of different medias side by side I thought that if I was to take my arts award to another direction I could combine different medias for different effects and textures. One example of this I particuarly liked was a gold based one where she had used tiles, wool  and wood. We also entered into a couple of raffles raising money for the trust, one to win a boat painting (we chose mumber 22 as our lucky number) and a raffle to win a christmas hamper with about 4 availible, (Our strip of 5 was 461-465)
