This is a picture inspired by a 2010 summer holiday visit to Bristol. I painted this in watercolours however scanning this picture into the computer has caused the colours on the picture to become very washed out and light. I created the attempt at the atmospheric sky using alizarin crimson and cadmium yellow for a varigated wash. I also introduced a dash of French ultramarine blue within the alizarin crimson for the sky. I simplified the scene and created a foreground bush by layering yellow ochre with green. After that I used blue to introduce shadow to the greenery.
